Pineapple Time

So, I really love pineapples. I think they are adorable. Especially baby ones. If you don't know what I'm talking about, google it. They aren't just small ones, they are a different type all together. Just thinking about them brings tears to my eyes. Here are some deliciously fruity treats...

Peter Piper....

Look what I made! After picking up some emormous tomatoes at the Mansfield Flea Market and making an heirloom salad, I stopped at a farmer's market and decided on making super quick pickles...and I couldn't turn down some dilly beans. I fudged with both the recipes, adding way too much garlic (I can't help myself) and hot peppers!

First Day of School

Now that I'm out of college, I truly appreciate all that is summer vacation. I was always in such a hurry to grow up. Gain the car keys, the responsibility, the freedom, the choice...and now I wish I could go back. Growing up in a small town on a large plot of land, I regret not basking in the Indian summers I grew up with. As Summer turns to Fall, as I walk to my car after work instead of picking vegetables in the garden at dusk, I can almost feel the grass in between my toes. I so badly miss the awareness in the changing of seasons. When I was young, I actually noticed when the days started getting shorter and the mornings getting cooler. I still do now, but not in the same way. To be carefree...what I wouldn't do. I look back and smile now that I can see how I took it all for granted. I complained when asked to pick the string beans and pull weeds. Now I day dream about having a garden as I peer out my second floor apartment window, onto a small parking lot, with no grass in sight. What I wouldn't do to grab a jar and collect fire flies...not that I couldn't now...its just different. I even got excited about going back to school. It was a love/ hate experience. Even now I can remember the back to school shopping, certain items of clothing...always wanting a Lisa Frank(and now that I look at the site, there weren't trampy looking girls when I was younger, but dolphins and unicorns...oh how the times change) TrapperKeeper. If I went back to school now, here are some of my picks!

Can you smell that....?

Did you smell it this morning?!

It was Fall. A little glimmer of Fall! Now, I know that its not here yet, but its on the way! Just cool enough and that smell...that smell! Just amazing. I know my mom smelled it,as did Laura. When I woke up, I saw the sky and knew it was on its way. The clear blue skies with little wisps of clouds...there's just something completely different about a Fall day, different from every other season, especially an early Fall day. I know I'm bumbling about the wondrous season that is Autumn, but I just can't get enough. All the colors of the leaves, found especially in New England...could I ever leave Fall behind?

And the pumpkins and gourds, and sweatshirts, and jeans...good, comfy, broken in jeans, and the Pig Roast, and the Hebron Harvest Fair, and the Garlic Festival, and apple picking, and Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and soon enough Halloween, and going up to Salem, and visiting Yankee Candle with Laura and that special shade of blue the sky turns, and oh that smell! I'm out of breath just thinking about it! I think I also love that it turns into winter and holiday and parties, and family and friends....its just perfect.

Do you love Fall as much as me?

Ball Jar Lovely

I'm just so lucky that my mother AND father are hopeless hoarders...well my mom will admit it, but dad, well not so much. Either way, whenever I need something, between the two of them, they can usually produce. Like two Christmases ago, I decided to take an adventure in 'domestication,' as my grandmother put it, and made three different types of jam, jelly, and chutneys as gifts. Needless to say that I was in need of jars, Ball mason jars specifically. I followed Dad up to the storage area, otherwise known as the barn, and after a minute or two of digging, he pulled out a trunk, full of vintage mason jars. Ever since, I've been in love. I want a whole wall covered in them, full of odds and ends, trinkets and chachkas. So when I had been searching for a summertime drink dispenser and stumbled upon one of these, I knew it had to go on my list.

Lack of sleep

I made a fatal mistake this morning. After my alarm went off, I got up, and then laid back down. Making the morning that much harder. With all the heat we've been having, I have not been sleeping well. We can crank the AC up as high as it can go, but between the loud whirring that keeps me up or the fact that I will get up and turn it off because of the noise and then wake up shortly because I am soaked with sweat, I do not get a good night's sleep. Now don't get me wrong, I love my IKEA bed, but sometimes I think other nests built for rest would make the night a bit more successful. It just makes me long for cool Fall nights where I can curl up in my down comforter and wake up to the smell of a delicious Fall breeze coming through an open window....ooohhhh!!!! and pumpkin spice coffee!

I bet I would sleep better here!

Chrystal & Justin: Vintage Perfect

On Saturday, two of my best friends got married. And it was perfect...except for the heat. Justin and Chrystal, after eight years of dating, made it official in a hugely personal and intimate ceremony and a vintage reception after my own heart. I was lucky enough to be a bridesmaid and I was just tickled to be a part of such an amazing union. J & C are the couple you love to hate because they are just too perfect together. Congrats and good luck!

Oh Shhhiiiip!

So for a few years now, I've had an obession with all things nautical, whether it be stripes, anchors, or of course, pirates. Still, I'm totally afraid of the open ocean. Because of sharks. Damn you Shark Week. I can't NOT watch Shark week. I went on a cruise though. But I don't like when I can't see the bottom. I'm a big baby. Anywho, anchors are a sign of promise and stability, nevermind being just so rock 'n' roll.

Wedding with all the Details

This wedding I found on oncewed, is just beautiful. Attention was paided to all the tiniest details. From the spools of vintage thread and the blue pitcher, to the card that Jordyn's lovely earrings hang from, simple becomes extraordinary. They were able to make take inexpensive items and make them priceless. Jordan and Bradley also nixed the traditional program and hand wrote their family members on the back of photograph fans. ::swoon::

Week in Photos

So I've been completely awful at this photo a day thing. It started when I justified not doing it every day...than it snowballed into well, I took a few yesterday. Now, I'm back on track and understanding the purpose of the exercise as finding beauty or interest in each day. There's the old over the last few or so, and now onto the real assignment...
